Bonnie Crombie

The Basics: Bonnie Crombie is the 6th Mayor of the City of Mississauga. She first ran for office in 2008, elected as a Liberal Member of Parliament. In the 2011 federal election, Crombie was defeated. Later that year, she was elected to Mississauga City Council as a Councillor. In 2014, she was elected as Mayor with more than 63% of the vote. She was re-elected for a second term in October 2018 wtih 77% of the vote.

Background: Crombie completed a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Schulich School of Business, and worked as a public affairs consultant before entering politics.

Things You (Really) Should Know: Crombie succeeded long-serving Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion, who served as Mayor for 34 years after winning 12 consecutive elections. Crombie was endorsed by McCallion during her mayoral campaign.

Fun Fact: Crombie speaks four languages: English, French, Polish and Ukranian.
