The Basics: Cathy Heron is the Mayor of the City of St. Albert. She was first elected to Council in 2010 as a Councillor, receiving the highest number of votes of any candidate. She was re-elected to Council in 2013. She ran and was elected as Mayor in October 2017.
Background: Before entering politics, Heron was trained as a medical labratory technician.
Things You (Really) Should Know: St. Albert is located immediately northwest to the City of Edmonton. It was one of the early communities located along the Canadian Northern Railway, dating back to 1906.
Fun Fact: Heron is known for her commitment to buy local, including once running out of gas because she wanted to fill her car in St. Albert.
