Frank Scarpitti

The Basics: Frank Scarpitti is the Mayor of the City of Markham. He was elected as Mayor in 2006, and was re-elected in 2010 and 2014. In 2018, he was re-elected for a fourth term with more than 75% of the vote. He served one previous term as Mayor from 1992 to 1994, when he was appointed following the death of Mayor Tony Roman. 

Background: Scarpitti worked in broadcasting with CFMT in Toronto.

Things You (Really) Should Know: Markham City Council consists of one mayor, four regional councillors, and eight ward councillors.

Fun Fact: Scarpitti is the top paid mayor in Ontario. In 2017, he took home more than $250,000 including his pay for sitting on the regional council and various boards.
