Ed Holder

The Basics: Ed Holder is the Mayor of the City of London. Holder was first elected to office in 2008 as a Conservative Member of Parliament under Stephen Harper. He was defeated in the 2015 federal election. He ran and was elected as Mayor in the 2018 municipal election in the City of London. 

Background: Holder worked in senior roles in the insurance and financial services industries before entering politics. He also own a small business with his wife. 

Things You (Really) Should Know: London was the first city in Canada to adopt ranked ballots for municipal elections, beginning in 2018. Holder secured the largest number of votes on the first ballot of any London mayoral candidate, and was confirmed as the successful candidate after 14 rounds.

Fun Fact: Holder is well known locally for his extensive volunteer work, and his scotch collection.
