Linda Hepner

The Basics: Linda Hepner is the Mayor of the City of Surrey. She was first elected to council in 2005 and served for nine years before running for Mayor in 2014. In the Mayoral election, she was elected with 48.15% of votes cast as part of the Surrey First municipal political party.

Background: Before entering politics, Hepner worked for 21 years at the City of Surrey, most recently as the Manager of Economic Development.

Things You (Really) Should Know: The City of Surrey is the second-largest city in the Metro Vancouver region, with a population of 517,887 (2016). The Mayor of Surrey is one of 21 members of the Mayors' Council of TransLink, the regional transportation authority.

Fun Fact: Hepner has championed Phase 1 of the Surrey LRT, which could be operational as soon as 2024.
